Tiger Talk! April 28, 2023

As we move through the joyous Easter season, we are also beginning our final full month of school. We have a lot happening here these last six weeks of school. Not only will we be celebrating an excellent school year with some fun events, we also will celebrate Jesuss Ascension to heaven. This is the day that Jesus returned to

his Father in Heaven, body and soul. We will also celebrate the end of the Easter season with the celebration of Pentecost on Pentecost Sunday, May 23rd.

We would like to welcome and congratulate Kevin, Olivia, and Savannah, who became members of our parish last weekend! Kevin (8th Grade) received the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation. Olivia (2nd Grade) and Savannah (Kindergarten) both received the Sacrament of Baptism. While they have been students at St. Anthonys for many years, we are excited to welcome them as members of our parish.

May’s Catholic Social Teaching

During the month of May, we will continue our Catholic Social Teachings from April focusing on Care for Gods Creation (Matthew 6:25-34 – Dependence on God; Genesis 1:1-31 – Story of Creation). We have already been working on this by discussing Earth Day and will continue to learn and find ways we can all care and protect Gods creations on Earth.

Congratulations to our April students of the month! These students were recognized by their teachers for their trustworthiness. Congratulations to Lorenzo Brown (PK3), Mia Emill (PK4), Tobias Williams (K), Madison Teasdale (1st), Jailah Hamilton (2nd), Kyleigh Beard (3rd), Daniel Caesar (4th), Sammy Burdett (5th),Cate Sargent (6th), Jasmin Guerro-Fuentes (7th), and Riley Winfield (8th). Way to go!

ARK Testing

This past week, students in Grades 2-8 took the ARK Test. This stands for Assessment of Religious Knowledge Test. The students were told to try their best. Teachers also had to take the test, and we can agree with the students that some of those questions were hard! I know our students put their best efforts into the test.

Evening of Sacred Music

Come join our Antonians on Wednesday, May 3rd, as they perform at St. John the Beloved Church for the Dioceses Evening of Sacred Music. Other school choirs come together and share their beautiful music with those who attend. The event starts at 6:30 P.M. with Antonians needing to arrive at 6:00 P.M. Mr. Colligan and I will be there to help the Antonians and listen to their lovely singing.

First Communion

Our 2nd Graders will celebrate their First Communion on Saturday, May 6th. The Mass will begin at 10:00 A.M. All are welcome to attend this beautiful service. Please keep the children in your prayers. God bless them on this joyous occasion.

Safety Reminders

Set up for the Italian Festival has already begun. You will begin to see at drop-off and pick-up that some areas will be unavailable to park in. Please be patient. Teachers will stay outside with students until 3:15 to be picked up. Additionally, in the coming weeks, Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and 2nd Grade will be moving their dismissal spot to the main entrance. This will be due the festival set up happening in the Kindergarten Courtyard. Thank you for being patient and understanding.

May Procession

On Wednesday, May 10th, at 2:00 P.M., we will hold our traditional May Procession honoring Mary. The entire school will process over from school to the church at 1:55pm. A select group of 8th Graders will act as the May Court with a 2nd Grade girl acting as an attendant. This procession and prayer service is one of the last times our entire school community gathers together before graduation. Parents and family are welcome to attend. Arrive a few minutes early and stand outside if you wish to see the children as they enter. Please feel free to send in flowers that morning so that we can adorn the Blessed Mothers statue.

Field Day

We have several fun things planned for the remainder of our school year. We will thankfully be able to have Field Day! Eighth Grade parents are invited to join us in the field at 2pm for the Students vs. Parents Volleyball Game. We are excited to host this once again. It will be held on Thursday, May 18th

A few notes for Field Day:

Field day will happen rain or shine, as we have outdoor equipment ordered. Please apply sunscreen to your child first thing in the morning, before coming to school. We will be outside from 8:30-12.

Please pack a change of clothes, a water bottle, and a beach towel for the day. The Kona Ice truck will return! If your child is unable to have Kona Ice or cannot have certain flavors, please be sure to let your childs teacher know.

State of the School/Thank You Party

Please join us on Wednesday, May 24th for a State of the School meeting followed by a Thank You party. Mr. Shields and I will be giving information about the future of the school as well as other information.
