Tiger Talk! February 14, 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Happy Valentine’s Day! Today at Mass, we listened to Father Mark as he reminded us that we should do all good things through God and that we should love and treat others as Jesus did.  What a fantastic reminder on this day of love! Thank you to our Home and School who organized a blood drive today in our Ballad Room. This is a wonderful way to live out two of our monthly virtues: January’s “giving of all one has” and February’s “facing challenges without fear.”  I know many people have not always been fans of needles and having blood drawn, but to do it for the needs of others is a wonderful way to live out our calling as Jesus’s disciples.

Congratulations to our January Students of the Month!  January’s virtue was “giving of all one has.” Congratulations to our students are always willing to help others and give of themselves: Bear Latina (PK3), Elijah Pak (PK4), Liam Teasdale (K), Sara Barker (1st), Gabe Hall (2nd), Cate Sargent (3rd), Nora Farrell (4th), Saniyah Hopper (5th), Lena Padovani (6th), Andres Lorenzo (7th), and Tina Kane (8th). Keep up the good work!

Congratulations and Thank You to our Science Olympiad participants! We had 26 students across 5th, 6th, and 7th Grades participate at the Science Olympiad held at St. Mark High School on February 8th. Our students won 13 medals from the events they participated in.  Thank you to Mrs. Ellen Tannenbaum who organized, coached, and encouraged all our participants. And thank you to the parents who came and spent their day at St. Mark’s either in the cafeteria  or navigating the building so students could make it to their events on time.

Thank you to the Wilmington Police’s K9 Division! Yesterday, some of their officers came to visit us and gave us a special presentation with the dogs they use for the K9 division.  All students were able to meet and pet Greta and Baylis.  The officers told us that our students asked really great questions and were very well-behaved.  Our students had a similar appreciation of the excellent canine behavior.  Below are some photos from yesterday, but be sure to go check our Facebook page to see videos of the dogs in action.
