Dear Families and Friends,
October seems to have flown by! What an exciting month we had. We had our first school Mass, Middle School retreat, Grandparents Day, the book fair, the Volleyball team won their tournament, and we had a lot of Halloween fun! These next few weeks will fly by with Thanksgiving, Advent, and Christmas coming up.
As previously mentioned, our Diocesan theme for the year is “Let Us Build the Kingdom of God.” During the months of November and December, we begin our day praying, “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land.” This Beatitude can be hard for us to understand because the word meek can sometimes have a negative connotation. However, in this case, meek means someone who is gentle, courteous, considerate, and humble. Mary is one of our greatest role models for meekness. She was always gentle, meek, and mild. She accepted God’s will and was the mother of His son on earth. This goes with our November and December value of humility.

The students had a fantastic time on Friday, October 27th. In addition to being in comfy pajamas, they had a great time Trick-or-Treating and playing games in the Gym. Thank you to all the parents who created amazing displays, donated candy, and donated your time for the afternoon. The creativity that was used was amazing. All students from our smallest 3 year-olds to our oldest teenagers had a great time playing games and getting candy and Halloween treats. Thank you for making this such a fun and successful event!
All Saints Day Mass
On Wednesday, grades 3-8 went to Mass to celebrate All Saints Day, a holy day of obligation. Students in all grades have spent time this week learning about the importance of the saints in our religion and in our lives. Many students enjoyed learning more about a favorite saint. Join us for our next Mass on Friday, December 8th to celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.
Thank You to our 8th Grade class and Mrs. Achenbach! During the morning of our Halloween celebrations on October 27th, the 8th Grade class created a Haunted Stage that students were given a chance to go through. Going through the haunted stage was completely optional. Those who went through it had a good scare and a laugh afterwards. Way to go, 8th Grade! You did an amazing job!
Congratulations to our October Students of the Month! These students were recognized by their teachers for being respectful in and outside the classroom. Congratulations to Jackson Ledwon (PK3), Dylan Kelly (PK4), Mya Pisutvacharakul (K), Tobias Williams (1st), Salvatore Latina (2nd), McKenna O’Neill (3rd), Kayden Emplit (4th), Lola Monaghan (5th), Sylvie Keen (6th), Cole Williams (7th), and Lee Hayes (8th). Way to go!
Save the Date!
Saturday, Nov. 18th will be our Home & School Comedy Night. We have plans for comedians, dinner, dancing, raffle baskets, prizes, a 50/50, and adult beverages. This will be a 21 and older event. Please try to attend. Mark your calendars! We haven’t done a real in-person fundraising event since 2020. We would like to raise funds for our Home and School Board. All of that money goes back to fund programs for your children. Purchase tickets from our Facebook page (St. Anthony of Padua Grade School Families, Alumni, & Friends) using the QR code available or contact the main office for physical tickets. Feel free to take more tickets to sell! The event costs $35 and includes dinner, dessert, comedians, dancing, a drink ticket, and a 50/50 ticket.
Yard Signs!
Who would like to help us market our school? We are hoping to have at least 20 families volunteer to take home a yard sign to advertise our school. Please email Ms. Abby if you are interested at awhite@sapgs.org. Thank you to those families who have already posted a sign on their lawn!
