Tiger Talk! September 6, 2019

Dear Friends,

Today we were lucky to have our first school Mass on the 50th anniversary of Father Rinaldi’s ordination as an Oblate priest. Father was happy to celebrate Mass with us. Father has been a blessing to many here in our school and parish communities. He has baptized our babies, married us, heard our confessions, and helped send our families to their final resting places in Heaven. He is a true blessing. His homily today was about life being a journey. He talked about how important it is to stay oriented and to stay the course. Our life is a journey with a purpose. We need to know our destination, which is eventually to be with God in Heaven. He reminded us that day after day, we take another step toward God in Heaven. He said there are many things that tempt us to go in different directions and that we can’t let them. We can’t get to where we are going, if we don’t know where we are going. He encouraged us to focus on our direction and not to wander off. He urged us to always make progress by keeping God as the center of our life (our compass). He talked about our church and why it was built at an unusual angle on this block. It was built according to the sun. Sun rises in east and as it does so, it shines in the windows. It was built on an angle because it has a specific purpose. Father asked us to love and pray for everyone so that we all can have an eternity of happiness. He ended Mass with a really nice thought that I will carry into my weekend. He repeated a quote that reads something like, “If you love what you do you, you will never work a day in your life.” He asked that we all find joy in our work and in what we are learning. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! We are off to an amazing start. Thank you to everyone who came out this week for our Home and School’s Back to School Night. It was great to see you all! Thank you for your most precious gift; your children!

Save the Date! Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Fr. Rinaldi’s Ordination!

Save the date to celebrate this milestone of ministry and service! On Sunday, 9/22, St. Anthony’s will mark this very special occasion. Fr. Rinaldi will celebrate the 11AM Mass & a luncheon will then follow in the Ballad Room of the Grade School from 12-4PM. Father does not want presents. In his own words, he claims that he has “far too much.” He also has been clear that he “truly wants to have more for our school children,” so this event will be a fundraiser for our

Grade School, which will benefit from any contributions you may wish to make in Father’s name. If you wish to make a contribution to the school honoring Father Rinaldi, visit the parish online giving site via the parish website: sapde.org or visit squareup.com/store/sapgs. ALSO: We would like to decorate using pictures of Fr. Rinaldi himself. If you have pictures of Father over the years, please drop off or

mail to the Grade School Office at 1715 W. 9th St; Wilmington, DE 19805, ATTN: Fr. Rinaldi Anniversary Event. (Donations may also be dropped off/mailed to the

Grade School, as well.) Come celebrate with us!

Love and Blessings,

Mrs. White
