Academic Program

ACADEMIC PROGRAM

The curriculum stresses academic achievement within a Christian community where the child feels that he/she is loved and respected by peers, as well as teachers.

We recognize each student’s individual gifts, and strive to help them reach their potential with opportunities for service and extra-curricular activities, as well as academics.  A life in Christ, according to the Gospel, is at the heart of all that we do here.  United with each other in meaningful liturgy and prayer, the students can further come to an understanding of the Catholic Christian life.   At St. Anthony’s, we are attempting to “teach as Jesus did.”

The Diocesan curriculum guidelines, consistent with the State of Delaware guidelines, are followed for the teaching of all secular subject areas. The curriculum is marked by current content and fresh approaches to methodology.

We strive to offer a program that makes use of a wide variety of audio-visual and technology tools, as well as problem solving, discussion, and cooperative group work. Our Reading series was updated in 2013 to implement Common Core Standards.

St. Anthony of Padua Grade School is accredited through the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary Schools.
